Well, that would be not taking myself too seriously.

Retirement
Um, I’m already retired. Mistakes have been made, but it’s too late for a do-over.
Oldest Thing
I would have to say some of the pots and pans in my kitchen. And then there is the 50-year-old Japanese metal teapot with an insert for the loose tea leaves. Perhaps, too, my two wooden spoons as well as my very miscellaneous knives, spoons, and forks.
Moments
Most of my favorite moments are connected with travel. The last time I landed in Mérida, Tucatán, I was in a veritable trance. I remembered places I had been as the taxi took me to the Hotel Piazetta at the Parque de la Mejorada. I had been to Mérida five or more times already, and it was like revisiting an old friend.
Notable?
I was sick as a dog today.
The King’s Stilts
Indeed I do: It was Dr. Seuss’s The King’s Stilts. My mother had to translate it into Hungarian for me because I was not yet able to speak English fluently. I vividly remember the illustrations.
Unplugging
I simply pick up a book. Reading a book makes you an active participant, while staring at a screen turns you ultimately into a bored wraith. Several times a week, I go out for lunch and occasionally take a walk.
Religion
Yes: To be precise, I practice assorted bits and pieces of several religions, most particularly the Roman Catholicism in which I was raised, to which have been added bits of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Taoism. But in no sense do I belong to any organized religion.
ARPANET
I was an early user of the Internet. In fact, in the late 1960s, I used the Internet’s predecessor, ARPANET, at System Development Corporation in Santa Monica. ARPANET was the U.S. Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. At that time I was around 23 years old.
Having It All
I think that “Having It All” is a recipe for unhappiness. In most cases it can’t be done. And if it is done, it is not sustainable. In the words of the Dhammapada:
If you are filled with desire
Your sorrows swell
Like the grass after the rain. But if you subdue desire
Your sorrows fall from you
Like drops of water from a lotus flower.
